  • Engaging your prospects and their peers

Word of mouth is probably the best way to get new business. It means that your brand is strong and identifiable, but it also means you have brand loyalty from your customers. Buyers and researchers rely on information from their peers just as much (or more so) than information from suppliers.  If you can engage prospects and peers in the social media sphere, you are increasing your chances of a solid reference and bankable mindshare.  If they’ve heard your name, seen testimonials on your blog and watched a product video on youtube,  you’ve got an interested lead and a credible-looking brand.

Keep the word-of-mouth via social media avenue in the forefront of your marketing plans. This approach is strong and can be cost effective.

  • Online Presence?

    Defining Online Presence:

When looking at your website and trying to understand what your customers are perceiving, is it solid content driven hub?

Websites should not only entice customers to come back (for new info, to make their life easier, ect…) but also convince prospects you are in fact the best-of-the-best for their needs.  An added bonus is the internal customer- are your employees able to use the website?

So your website is online, but are people finding it? Driving people to your site is the next obstacle.  The fanciest/high designed website is worthless if no one sees it. Organic search (google, yahoo) is the most utilized form of information gathering for the American consumer. So rising to position one in the searches relevant to your brand or industry is paramount.  Chances are if you aren’t showing up, your competitor is.  Optimizing (*SEO) your site is the answer to this marketing conundrum.

*SEO (search engine optimization) isn’t a one time thing either. It’s a technical process as much as it’s a monthly ongoing marketing exercise.  If your site is optimized, but it isn’t performing well, double check the the monthly marketing maintenance is happening. Chances are, if you aren’t happy with the performance, this is the problem.

There are other ways to drive people to your site. Paid ads (PPC) on the search engines are highly effective and can be incredibly low cost. Not only for those who click through but also the brand awareness you receive with your impressions on each search.  **This is a good option if your organic search performance is lagging.

Social media is another great place to engage customers and prospects.  Whether it’s Facebook, a blog or Twitter keeping that open vein of communication with those who are/could be a fan of your brand is important.  Brands aren’t unmovable objects anymore. We interact with the brands that are succeeding. Keep that in mind the next time someone recommends a company Facebook page.

If the internet is a party, the brand with an online presence is at the punch bowl handing out drinks and telling anecdotes while handing out business cards.  The brand with simply a stationary website is the super tall guy sitting on the couch, alone.

  • B-to-B Marketing Outsourcing On The Rise.

An inhouse Marketing person can only do so much. Especially if marketing isn’t their only responsibility (e.g. a vp or sales manager) and they don’t have time to stay current with marketing and advertising trends and technologies.

“According to The Black Book of Outsourcing report compiled by Brown-Wilson Group, the outsourced procurement solutions market is forecast to expand dramatically from $700 million in 2008 to an estimated $1.1 billion in 2009. And it’s expected to pass the $3.5 billion mark in 2012, representing a 41% compound annual growth rate.”

Outsourcing your marketing allows you to control how much time and resources are allocated to your marketing needs. It also engages professionals who know and work in the industry every day, to care for your brand. With the right marketing partnership, outsourcing your marketing often turns out to be the most affordable and efficient way to get talented marketers creating your marketing strategies.

Recently our video “The Evolution of Business Communications” was featured as the kick off video for the BMA (Business Marketing Association) New Jersey’s Impact Awards.

Impact Awards Committee member Tom Lento dropped us a line about how our video enriched the ceremony.

“[The video] certainly got people’s attention. Everyone at the event was bowled over by the thought you put into the message, and the creativity with which you realized the concept. What a way to kick off the awards segment of the event! Too bad we didn’t have video capability so you could hear the huge round of applause from the audience. You now have fans in New Jersey.”

Ah shucks Tom. Thanks for the note!

Guests at the Impact Awards enjoyed our video

Our very own Joe Hendershot is featured on screen.

  • Nautical Chart Folding Video : Raising Awareness

Brianna Deihl 12:34 am on September 16, 2009 | 0 Permalink | Log in to leave a Comment

Our friends at OceanGrafix print-on-demand nautical charts for mariners across the US. The importance of print-on-demand charts involves updates to navigational safety information that is updated by NOAA and the U.S. Coast Guard. OceanGrafix updates all information available before every chart is printed. This means your chart is 100% accurate at the time of printing.

Some mariners stray from having charts on board because a) they have a GPS and b) they don’t have a large chart table to faciliatate a full size NOAA chart. Failing to have a navigational backup can be extremely dangerous. What happens when the batteries fail in the GPS?

This video demonstrates how easy it is to fold an OceanGrafix nautical chart for use in smaller spaces, so you can unfold the chart as you sail your course.

Yesterday we shot all principle footage for our current video project on “wayfinding.”

Wayfinding is the use of architecture and signage to enhance  user experience and orientation within a built environment.

Our good friends at Visual Communications Inc. are expert wayfinding masterplan architects and we are highlighting the work they did for the city of St. Paul.

As you may or may not know, St. Paul is an incredibly old and walkable city. The ease of navigation from park to park, or from the capitol to the river is all because of the infrastructure of wrought iron signs directing you 3 blocks east, or 2 block south, etc.  Last year the skyway system was also completely re-signed to anticipate an influx of visitors for the RNC.

Because of their  multilevel masterplan design, visitors to St. Paul are comfortable parking anywhere and walking to their destinations with confidence. If you are looking for this type of expertise, visit their site here.

    Stay tuned for the video!
